James 1:27 exhorts us to care for the orphans and widows.
The exhortation is given to all Christians, but what that looks like lived out is different for everyone. Some are called to adopt! Some are called to encourage and visit, investing time! Some are called to support monetarily!

Please know that we have appreciated all of your prayer support and are grateful for the many who have invested time and money of your own in a young man's life who you did not know. We hope you will meet him some day soon. He will never know the amount and sacrifice made on his behalf, but I pray he will feel and truly know the love and acceptance from you! God bless!

Last Post from Guangzhou 6 August 2010... maybe last post from Guangzhou... forever??

My comfort has been the Lord.  I have been continually reminded of the sacred hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness.  I have looked up, read the lyrics, and copied them to a desktop file and have re-read daily as part of my devotions and late at night as a time of refreshment from the Lord as I call out to Him.  Please take a moment and read these as well, they have meant so much to me in the past two weeks.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

The illustration of God's love and continued care is amazing. I can not describe adequately how I have been at the lowest, or how I am continually refreshed by His love and compassion for me, His child.  It reminds me of my exact situation here with Levi.  At times there has been indecision and points where Levi was not sure if he really wanted this.  "Salvation" of giving him from his lack of a family, an inclusion into ours...how much more can he need, want, or receive?  At our lowest, we have given him a higher standard of living, care, and love... We have made him our own.   He understands.  I have told him many times that he is MY son, no different than Tyler, Travis, or Jordan.  And yet, he wonders.  He is scared.  He even asked his friend in America, Max, whom he knew from the orphanage, if his parents loved him, fed him enough, or cared for him.

How many times have I wondered the same thing about God the Father?  At times I am at my lowest, when I am scared?

Thankfully, God has comforted Levi, Beth and I as we have worked through this time.  I am thankful, not only for God's provision of Levi, and for the joy of him as our son, but I am equally glad for this time of refining.  God has used this difficult time to tear away yet another layer of self reliance.  I truly stand in awe of how God works through our lives, through our problems and takes a hurt but willing heart and strengthens it in the refiners fire.

Glory be the name of Lord.
