James 1:27 exhorts us to care for the orphans and widows.
The exhortation is given to all Christians, but what that looks like lived out is different for everyone. Some are called to adopt! Some are called to encourage and visit, investing time! Some are called to support monetarily!

Please know that we have appreciated all of your prayer support and are grateful for the many who have invested time and money of your own in a young man's life who you did not know. We hope you will meet him some day soon. He will never know the amount and sacrifice made on his behalf, but I pray he will feel and truly know the love and acceptance from you! God bless!

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from Beth's eyes!

Nothing but blue skies, blue skies, BLUE SKIES!

Guangzhou, in it's own special way, is a breath of fresh air.  And that can be taken literally!  I am loving those patches of blue sky, and we seem to be surrounded by a cloud blank that usually keeps its distance.  Looks like thunderclouds!  Not the usual pollution haze; although it makes its appearance.  Even though it's been very humid for us folks from the DRY heat, the air pollution is not burning our eyes or leaving a nasty taste/smell in the mouth/nose!

Guangzhou renovation
Repainting the building faces.
A little about the city at the moment.  It is undergoing a massive face lift!  They are hosting the Asian Games here in November so they are sprucing up the place a bit with a fervor.  Sadly, they are tearing down some of the old parts, and moving people/shops elsewhere, farther out of town, because they can no longer afford to stay in the new buildings they replace them with.  They are repainting buildings by the main roads....the parts that show, but no farther.  Huge buildings stand shrouded in painting cloths with bamboo scaffolding around them.  Watching the working men and women, and way of life here from the bus windows, I compare it to our sterile environments at home, so completely overly inundated with safety features, lest someone hurt themselves and SUE!  Oh, don't get me wrong...I am thankful for a lot that has made our country clean, but I think we can all admit to seeing the absurdity of some things, taking away personal responsibility and leaving common sense behind!
It's amazing to see modes of transportation.

In this heat and humidity, a little break from work is a good thing!
Traffic!  Never again should I complain about South 6th and Washburn!

Absolute Craziness!
Talk about traffic congestion!
Now, a little about LEVI...

5 minute hair washing...looked so relaxing!
One morning, we took him for a haircut in the hotel salon.   Some people have first baths pictures, we have first haircut!   He got the head washing of a lifetime....5 minutes or more of a head massage.  Faith and I wanted to come just to get our hair washed!  His haircut is not a drastic change, but  thinned out and cleaned up.  Looks really nice.  He likes to take a little spray and make it stick up on top!  Which isn't hard to do.  I think it actually might do it on it's own....kind of like Jordan's visor hair!  Haha!

Getting a little trim.
He is sweet and gentle with the little ones in our group.  I can tell, he is going to be a good big brother to the little girls--always watching out for them!  He is also very considerate.  If he has something someone else does not, he wants to share and make sure others are included.  Thankfully, he seems to have a good sense of humor, and Dad (Paul) is introducing him to the Lyman jokester side.

Dads and sons enjoying the pool.
Levi loves the water!
He is enjoying the pool and is determined to swim and get into the deeper water; working on holding his breath and moving through the water.  I am thinking I will be signing him up for swim lessons soon.

We're taking full advantage of this pool!  It's been so refreshing.
Each adoption has been different for us, and it seems God stretches us more each time out of our comfort zone.  Most importantly, it pushes us  toward our Heavenly Father, relying on His strength when we have none; relying on His direction for us when we do not know which way to turn.  There are a lot of unknowns ahead for us.  But they are not unknown to God, and that makes ALL the difference!  Our prayer is that Levi will one day soon know the Maker of Heaven and Earth!  The Maker of Levi XiaoWen Lyman!  May we be good stewards of passing on Truth to him.

Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hill-where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth!
